Join Cari and Heather for this very special event:
Each season of a woman’s life brings change and has its own character and potential. Our bodies move through these phases - from child, to adolescent, to adult, to elder - transforming continually over time like the cycles of a year. We shift from the innocence of spring to the ripening of summer into the harvesting of fall and the revelation of winter.
Entering Autumn, we carry a lifetime of knowledge and develop a deeper connection to ourselves. The opportunity within this potent phase is for us to reimagine and reorganize our lives. By cultivating practices of self-care, we develop insights that feed and nourish our body, mind and spirit, offering ourselves the keys to the true power of this season.
Through embodied Katonah Yoga practices, breathwork and creative exploration, we will work with the intelligence of nature and its patterns to create maps and recipes of personal agency. The goal is to leave with an inspired vision and the knowledge to harvest the true bounty of Autumn.

Join Cari, Yiming & Adrian for an enriching seasonal experience, as we utilize diverse tools and techniques to support dropping into deep states of embodiment.
In Chinese theory, Autumn is the season connected to the ascending yin of the lungs as well as the transformative metal element, which draws nourishing energy towards our center. We use Katonah Yoga Restorative shapes in combination with overtone-rich sounds to support the breath with postures that use formal setups, hands-on adjustments, and props as boundaries to scaffold physical and emotional structure. The instruments join with this dynamic environment, guiding attention deeper into the form. When the mind and body connect in this way, breath and energy move effortlessly, evoking ease and safety, and inviting new layers of psycho-somatic release.

Each participant will receive a uniquely personal experience guided by three facilitators. Chemistry and neurology transform in each posture supported by blocks, blankets, straps, and chairs, accompanied by chimes, tuning forks, singing bowls, and gongs. Leave renewed, restored, and harvest a greater sense of internal peace.

When functioning as they should, our shoulders have an astonishing range of motion that allows our hands to reach for, to touch, and to grasp everything in the world around us. But that mobility comes at a price: our shoulders are also the least stable parts of our bodies and are prone to injury and dislocation. Accidents, less-than-optimal movement habits, overuse, and degeneration create wear and tear that can result in pain, a loss of mobility, and guarding (which leads to more contraction and discomfort). Add to that the stresses of day-to-day life when we “shoulder” responsibilities, or “carry the weight of the world on our shoulders,” and it’s no wonder that many of us have or have had bouts of shoulder pain that keep us from doing the activities we love.
If you’ve been experiencing ongoing discomfort/stiffness, or want to understand how your shoulders function and how best to care for them, this workshop is for you. In it, you’ll have the opportunity to explore gentle movements that facilitate range of motion and release chronic muscular contraction that may be contributing to your discomfort.

 What you’ll learn:
* Basic anatomy of the shoulder girdle
* The variety of movements choices available in the shoulder girdle (calibrated to each participant’s comfortable range of motion)
* The connection of head and neck movements to shoulder mobility
* How to integrate shoulder movements into full body movement patterns
* Postural habits that may be inhibiting your ability to use your shoulders effectively
* How your somatic center underpins and supports the movements of your shoulder girdle
* The relationship of breathing to shoulder movement
* Marma points (Ayurvedic pressure points) to support shoulder health

Whether you’re a yoga teacher looking to deepen your toolkit, or an experienced practitioner looking to understand how to refine poses in your own body, this workshop will build your confidence and update your knowledge.
Physical contact is a basic human need with emotional, mental, and physical benefits. In a yoga class, offering hands on adjustments and assists can be a very transformative tool for the student, as well as the teacher. When done well, hands-on adjustments are an opportunity to build trusting connection, retrain patterns or unconscious ways of moving, and open avenues of awareness toward greater possibility.

The day will include:
*Part 1: Touch 101 & The standing Series - 12 to 3 pm
Consent, Types of Touch, SSA method
Tadasana, Warrior 1 & 2, Side angle, Triangle, Pyramid, Lunges and more
*Part 2: inversions & Backbends - 4 to 7 pm
Assisting Inversions: Handstand, Forearm stand, Headstand
Assisting backbends: Four most common: Cobra, Locust, Bridge and Wheel

The Healing Yin Yoga monthly workshops are a slower, more meditative practice of yoga that target the deeper, connective tissue that binds our bodies, using long holds to access and release the subtle layers within, while allowing for nervous systems to ground and quiet, creating space for deeper healing and release- physically, mentally and emotionally.

“There are three tenets of Yin Yoga: find your edge where you can feel the stretch but without straining; remain still; and allow yourself to stay here for a period of time. It’s a simple practice with profound therapeutic benefits for longevity, vitality, flexibility, and more.”

Usually held on the third Friday of each month, a supportive way to end the week.
Give yourself the gift of time, quiet and hands on support in these intimate monthly workshops.

Join Anna and Carlotta for this workshop when they will break down some of the foundational elements of Ashtanga Yoga.

Ashtanga is a yoga practice created by K. Pattabhi Jois, consisting of a set series of asanas (physical postures). We will go through the opening and closing portions of the asana practice (including the mantras), talk about the breath, focus, and bandha components of the practice, and have time for questions. This workshop is great for anyone curious about the form or looking to deepen the practice in an intentional focused way.

Aimed at all levels, this unique workshop is meant as an introduction to a series of exercises that will guide participants on a journey towards deep, inner relaxation — a level of relaxation that, as Tarthang Tulku describes it, “has a vital and lasting quality far greater than the feeling of well-being”. Suitable for beginners and experienced yogis alike, the course upholds Tarthang Tulku’s teachings that there is no one or ‘right’ way to perform the exercises. You do not need to be able to touch your toes, but you do need to be able to touch the feelings and sensations that will arise in your body from this simple, but no less profound, form of yoga. For it is our feelings that are linked to the vitality of the universe itself and have the capacity to heal both our bodies and our minds.
