Shaina began her yoga journey as a form of therapy while caretaking for her father, who had Parkinsons disease. After his passing, she continued down a path of self-exploration and development, completing a hatha based 200-hour training with Prema Yoga. Since then, Shaina shifted her focus to Katonah Yoga, in which she has completed over 1000 hours of training with The Studio, The Katonah Yoga Center, and Mary Dana Abbott, focusing on body & face reading and adjustments. Katonah references Taoism, Chinese medicine and sacred geometry to enrich the yoga practice. Shaina completed an apprenticeship with Abbie Galvin of The Studio in 2022 and has been a mentee of Mary Dana Abbott since 2022. Shaina aims to use the vibrant metaphors found in Katonah Yoga along with verbal and hands-on adjustments to enliven the student’s practice by shifting chemistry and connect the mind and body. When we use the material to deepen our relationship with the self, we can enhance our connection with others and the Earth that supports us. Outside of yoga, Shaina has studied veterinary medicine and teaches down dog to her furry friends at her pet care business in Brooklyn. She is an avid scuba diver and travels the world in search of adventure.
