Julie Martin

Instructor

Julie (she/her) is a Florida native who moved to NYC in 2015. Julie’s curiosity about yoga began in college where she attended hatha classes at the local community center. Post college, Julie fell in love with hot yoga (26X2). When she moved to New York, she jumped in and completed her 200 RYT in vinyasa at Sacred Bedstuy in 2017. That same year, Julie found CAPPA and mentored under Kristy Zadrozny of Expecting(NYC) as a labor and postpartum doula. In 2018 The Doula Project gave her an expanded scope of the work; as a full-spectrum doula, Julie regularly supported abortion through Planned Parenthood of Greater New York. In 2024, Julie received her prenatal yoga certification with the guidance of Beth Donnelly and Lara Kohn Thompson at Integral Yoga.

Cultivation of the mind-body connection through yoga and insight meditation as a means of self-exploration and self-love greatly informs Julie’s approach to birth, which centers on staying present with an open heart and curious mind. Julie approaches yoga with the intention of creating space and grounding to meet folks where they are day-to-day. Julie finds joy in cooking for family, friends and clients, speaking Spanish with her exuberant son, reading (ask her what’s on rotation on her Kindle) and riding her bike around NYC year round. Something you might not know about her: she loves a ghost story, esoteric studies and all things spooky!
