Spring Edition: Seasonal Sound and Katonah Yoga Restorative Practice

Event

Saturday, March 21 - 4 to 6:30 PM

Cost: $100 – Early Bird: $85 ending on Sunday, March 15

Join us this Spring for an enriching seasonal experience, as we utilize diverse tools and techniques to support dropping into deep states of embodiment.

In Chinese theory, Spring raises the energy of the liver, our reservoir of creativity and renewal. This initiates our vision, expression, and the will to bloom from the depths of Winter’s wisdom.  The element of Spring is wood, which can be flexible yet resilient, and it is up to us to cultivate an ecosystem of practices that support our growth.

We use Katonah Yoga Restorative shapes in combination with overtone-rich sounds to support the breath with postures that use formal setups, hands-on adjustments, and props as boundaries to scaffold physical and emotional structure. The instruments join with this dynamic environment, guiding attention deeper into the form. When the mind and body connect in this way, breath and energy move effortlessly, evoking ease and safety, and inviting new layers of psycho-somatic release.

Each participant will receive a uniquely personal experience guided by three facilitators. Our nervous systems harmonize in time, empowering you to emerge from the class feeling elevated, energized, and transformed by internal guidance.

About the Teacher(s):

Cari Friedman O’Connor, who has been teaching yoga for 25 years, is a master teacher who combines exceptional technical knowledge with an ability to recognize and respond to each student’s individual needs. Her classes are inspiring, challenging, and nurturing, all at once.
After meeting Nevine Michaan (founder of Katonah Yoga) in 2012, Cari found her home with the Katonah Yoga method and has been teaching it ever since.
Cari’s meditation practice includes studies from the Vipassana traditions.  She has deepened her practice through the study of women’s sacred rituals, the completion of a two-year lecture program with Dr. Shefali Tsabury on mindfulness, and by leading many retreats and trainings around the world.  She is a partner and mother of two children who daily inspire her practice and teaching. Cari also holds a BA from the Boston Conservatory of music.

Yiming Bao and Adrian Williamson are partners in life and the life of sound, facilitating together as Sound Observer beginning in 2020. Their practice is rooted in Nada (sound/vibration) Yoga, informed by psychoacoustic science, and inspired by world indigenous music traditions. Their offerings challenge participants to listen deeply to their full feeling spectrum, weaving both dissonance and harmony with artistry, guiding the listener into supported deep states of coherence and contemplation.
They are both ever-curious students of the vast diversity of meditative practices, from yoga to dance to breath and voice work to sitting meditation to many more. In this endless journey of cultivating silence and stillness, they are grateful to have found home in sound. They hold a playful yet sincere tone, centering the way of nature.
